This workshop is designed to inform psychologists and those closely affiliated with psychological work about many of the psychologically-pertinent issues related to legalized/medical marijuana usage. Namely: what information must be provided to ensure clients are receiving quality information from a harm reduction, empirically validated position? How do we avoid the dichotomy of “it’s harmless” vs “it’s harmful and a gateway drug” that commonly features in social conversations on marijuana? What do we, as psychologists, need to better understand and continually assess concerning clients’ choices concerning use of marijuana? What is our role and obligation concerning due diligence and ethics? What concerns are particularly pertinent to the young (developing) brain, and how might we work with clients to ensure open communication and maintaining strong therapeutic alliance while still providing necessary and accurate information? Many of these questions and more will be addressed in the morning overview, then followed in increasingly detailed and workshop attendee-directed Q & A sessions during the afternoon.

Please note Easter Seals is a scent free environment and requires we avoid bringing in such things as nuts, banana, kiwi, latex (please check website for full list).

Coffee and tea and snacks from Hungry Heart will also be available throughout the session, and lunch will be provided for APNL members attending the AGM.
